A Brilliant Afternoon

Around 20 people dropped by over the course of the afternoon for Picnic in the Park — spreading out blankets on the lawn, catching up with neighbours, and making the most of a sunny Saturday in Verdin Park.

The undoubted highlight was the rounders — coached and organised by Darren Wilks of DW Sports Coaching, who ran games for players of all ages across the open lawn near the play area. It was a huge success, with residents of every age joining in for an innings or two between picnics.

Thank you to everyone who came along, brought a blanket, or had a go at rounders — and to Darren for giving his time and expertise so generously. Together we raised £42 for Friends of Verdin Park.
